The Article 116 Reconciliation Project replaces The Article 116 Exclusions Group,  which was founded in October 2018 by Felix Couchman to represent the people who had unsuccessfully applied for re-naturalisation under Article 116, paragraph 2 of German Basic Law and their descendants. 

This campaign was successful and on 20 August 2021, the “Fourth Act Amending the Nationality Act”, which had been passed two months prior by the Bundestag and Bundesrat, came into force. This welcome reform created a new legal framework for remedying the injustice in the German nationality law. 

Our work, ethos and integrity meant that we were able to work in a respectful, constructive manner and as a result formed very positive working relationship helping correcting an injustice in just over two years. 

As a result an unprecedented number of people can now apply for German Citizenship!
